Arkadi Hotel - Chania, Greece     

We arrived in Chania around 12AM after taking a ferry ride to Kissamos. The Arkadi was very easy to find as it is in the Center Square. The man working at the desk was nice enough. We I saw our room I realized that it was quite loud from the street noise and he was very accomodating and offered me another room. However, when I changed rooms, it was the worst room in the place. The first room was ok, cleaner and newer looking, while the 2nd room was dirty and old. The worst part about the hotel was that it smelled like smoke everywhere. And, the beds were very uncomfortable. Breakfast was fine. It was in walking distance of the old town, which was convenient, and the morning front desk person was nice as well. I would not stay here again, because I don't think any other hotel could be much worse.

My wife and I arrived in Chania a day early from Athens and found the hotel we booked was sold out. They arranged for us to stay at the Arkadi and we were very pleasantly surprised. For a budget hotel, the rooms & lobby were very clean. A double bed was two singles pushed together. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was large. The hotel is located within a 5 min. walk to the bus station and a 10 min. walk to the old Venetian Harbor and central market. We would definitely stay here again - it was a great value.
