Holiday Inn Coventry South - Coventry, United Kingdom 

This is a tired, drab and dreadful hotel. To be fair may room was large and clean. However it was freezing! After trying for a while to operate the ancient and inadequate heater I noticed a small sign saying you had to contact reception to get them to turn the heater on centrally. Have you ever heard anything so unhelpful? Even worse - for the majority of our stay reception was deserted. there was a sign saying dial zero for attention! Whe you dialled zero the phone rang out - in reception! When I finally got permission from the scarlet pimpernell (receptionist) to have my heater on I still couldn't get the victorian contraption to work. This is the coldest stay in a hotel I have ever had. The breakfast was very poor. Most of the hot grilled items were missing. Only one staff member evident who couldn't cope with a full breakfast room. Bar prices very expensive (Lager £3.20) and many of the beers 'not available'. My instincy is that this place has significant funding problems - avoid it unless you break down nearby and can't get any further. I have raised these issues with the Holiday Inn and I will post their response.

Booked a double room direct on the website for £42 a night .- Spacious clean room, with good bathroom and comfortable large bed. Didn't use any hotel facilities as it was just an overnight stop -but found the night staff to be very helpful. Overall great value for money.
