Orbis Hotel Wroclaw - Wroclaw, Poland     

Fairly nice hotel, but too basic to be a 4 star establishment. Our room was lovely and clean, the room itself was a good size, but the en-suite was very small and antiquated, however, it was fully functionable. There was no safe in the room, but safe deposit boxes were available free behind the reception. There was also a plush shopping mall on the opposite side of the road with a fantastic 2-storey aquarium....complete with sharks and stingrays. The walk to the market square was about 20 minutes, but enjoyable. First, you see grafitti everywhere (don't worry, not leery place), then you get to the anonymous pedestrians in the Wroclaw's equilvalent of "Bank" in London, and then a further 10 minutes and you're at the square. The swimming pool in the hotel was freezing, and any use of the sauna and jacuzzi were additionally chargeable. The reception and luggage room staff were very nice and spoke very good English. We were even given late check-out for free! We paid very little money for our stay so all- in -all, it was still good value for money. I would recommend this hotel as a base, but not if you want to spend time enjoying the facilities within the establishment.

Three of us stayed at the Orbis in March. We booked to rooms. I had a room with my husband and our friend had a room on a lower floor. It was ok but layout reminded my husband of an army barracks!!! every floor the same, door after door room after room. Ideal in some ways as Wroclaw is very up and coming as another main city in Poland after Krakow. More and more people visiting etc. Anyway less of that. We found that the rooms were ok as was the breakfast area and bar area. However, we had another problem. The air con. We could not breath. It was so hot. We asked for the receptionist to adjust it but in no uncertain terms we were told this could not be done as they only had one switch for however many hundred rooms. It was a sad thing really as everything else was ok. The previous time we stayed at the monopol which Orbis have now sold on and when we were there we saw work in progress there. We all wish Orbis had not sold it but they will have had there reasons. that is part of the reason why we chose the orbis in Wroclaw, because our previous visit when they had the monopol had been really lovely.
