With a fair bit of experience of the area, I'd say this is currently the best hotel in the Mojacar area. It is new, very reasonably priced, centrally situated, and only yards from the beach and the bars. It is in the same group of Mojacar hotels as the Virgen del Mar (OK, but tired) and the Puntazo (one of the original hotels in Mojacar, and it shows). All three hotels are within 50 yards of each other. The Punta del Canal is less than one year old and, although a little way back from front line, it is by far the best of the three. I arrived late in transit, and stayed for only one night in early May. Visiting 'on spec', I got a suite + breakfast for only 50 euros. The suite comprised of a sitting room with a daybed, a twin bed room and a very modern bathroom. Everything was sparkling and good quality. The breakfast was of a very high standard - better than acceptable ones I had in a Seville hotel on the previous days for twice the price. The staff were very courteous, everything was spotless, there were good facilities such as pool etc., and the location was great. Yet the place wasn't busy. I can't imagine that anyone will be disappointed with this hotel as it compares favourably with anything in its range on the Costas.

My boyfriend and I have been going to Mojácar for three or four years to spend our long weekends and getaways. We've tried several hotels around the area and V.M. has been the choice this time. We had been here before and we had no problems and the hotel was ok for being a two star and matching its price. It is small, run by a family, with quite small rooms (all have them have a small terrace) and it was clean. That was a year ago or so. Now, we found the room not so clean (I had to ask for the bed sheets to be changed after three days of use), the bath towels seemed so old that they weren't of any use and looked yellow, as well as the bed sheets did. The cleaning in general was very poor. Also the TV kept going off and the channels would disappear. The walls are so thin that you could hear your neighbour as if he was sleeping with you. I hope this is just because the hotel was full of people and they were up to their neck, though I have to say the girls at the reception desk have always been with us, and still are, very kind and gentle.
