Location

Forest

A wonder of nature in itself, in this wonderful country, is the town of Marmaris greeting the Aegean. The clear, deep blue sea under the sunny sky is perfect for any kind of water-sport. This area is so appealing that you will need to spend several days to make the most of everything.

Kumlubük, on your way to this picturesque resort, you'll pass the ruins of Amos, high above a sea so clear that fish can be seen up to 5 metres below the surface. The resort itself has open restaurants and modern tourist facilities.

Içmeler, well known for its famous springs whose waters have proved to be beneficial to the digestive system. The noted beach stretches along the length of the bay and is bordered by a variety of restaurants, bars and hotels strung along the promenade.

I looked on this site after I had booked our holiday but before we went to Turkey, and I must say that previous comments read by my wife and I on this site left us feeling quite nervous. We left England on the 16/05/08 and returned from Turkey on the 30/05/08 and I have to say that all the negetive reviews that we read could not of been about The Grand Faros, Marmaris. Actually The Grand Faros is not in Marmaris, it is just outside, which is far better if you are looking for somewhere peaceful to sleep. The staff were tripping over each other trying to please you. If anything they were trying just a little too hard. The rooms were spotless but depending where you were situated, your room might not get done until late afternoon, but hey, you are on holiday and should be out! Anybody who is staying at the Grand Faros has not paid 5 star hotel prices but considering what you have paid for, my wife and I felt that the food and the choice was very very good indeed. The hotel is owned and run by a large family and we spoke to one of the brothers about the hotel. He told us that they were now in their 9th year and in previous years the holiday makers were mainly Dutch, probably about 90% and now its about 40% Dutch, 40% English with very few Germans. In fact they have never had many Germans. The sunbeds around the pool are put out every morning at 0800hrs and are packed away when the pool closes at 1800hrs. This prevents anyone putting towels out in the early hours of the morning. In fact we were told it was the policy of the hotel to make sure towels were not left on sunbeds during the day either unless occupied. Another policy was that you had to be dressed correctly for dinner, which we thought was proper. The first week we were there fortunately there was not a child in sight which pleased us as we hoped the hotel would be quiet. They do cater for children but I would say that kids would get quickly bored there because it simply is not big enough to run around in. If your looking for somewhere peaceful this is the place to go providing schools are not out on half term or holidays. The staff are most definitely not rude!!!! The owners who also live, eat and sleep on site would not tolerate such behaviour. We also thought it was nice to see the owners of this hotel sit down after everyone else had finished eating and have the same themselves. At the end of the day hotels are for somewhere to sleep after a great day out whilst holidaying, and should you go to Marmaris you could do alot worse than stay at The Grand Faros. We would reccommend the place, for sure!

Not long back from a 2 week stay with my family (8 in total) at the Grand Faros Hotel. We had a great time. The hotel is lovely and the staff are very friendly, especially Mirat, Umut and Hikan. The maid service is great.. Rooms are cleaned and clean towels every day! The rooms are quite small but clean and sufficient. The food is nice and service excellent. There is entertainment every day and night. Marmaris centre is about a 25 minute walk but there are also bars just around the corner. This was not a problem as bar owners are very happy to collect you and drop you off for free for the beach or dinner. The hotel is next to large 24 hour supermarket which was very handy. I would definitely go back :)
