Location

Zwolle is a lively province city that still clearly shows traces from the Middle Ages. You can go on a city tour on foot along historic buildings and sights. Alternatively, you can take a ride in a boat, pedalo or canoe through the city's canals. In the city centre you can wonderfully stroll along shops, cafés and restaurants.
The surrounding area of Zwolle also has a lot to offer, such as Giethoorn, known as the Dutch Venice, Schokland, a former island of the Zuider Zee, or the gardens of Mien Ruys in Dedemsvaart. The historical towns Kampen (with its historic town centre), Hattem (Anton Pieck) and Elburg are also well worth visiting.
Overijssel is well-known for its landscape with wide lakes, forests and romantic castles and manors; all the more reason to hop on a bike or go hiking.

We stayed at the Pillows in Zwolle for two nights. It has all the comforts of a luxury hotel at a very reasonable price. The staff was friendly and informative, the room was large and well appointed, and the food at the restaurant was excellent.
