Hotel Navegadores - Monte Gordo, Portugal 

After seeing the reviews for the hotel, after booking, we are actually dreading the holiday. Yes food was basic and not alot of choice but what was available was edible and actually quite good. It was the same as what was available in near by restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were kept very clean. The hotel could do with modernising but was not miserable as stated in other reviews. Indoor pool was bit bizaar but the beach is so close and after a dip in the freezing sea you were thankful for a warmer swim. There was green around the pool but this was due to the water. It was not grime but discolouration. The pool was cleaned most mornings. The only fault we could find was that it was a little noisey in the mornings when other guests were going for breakfast. When you consider how many rooms there are at the hotel and the number of reviews that have been submitted it obviously is not that bad! Make up your own mind but do not be put off by the bad reviews.

What can I say that has not already been said. I always read reviews before booking any accomodation and decided to try this hotel as it could not be that bad. WRONG, it was as bad as I had read. The only good thing was the cleanliness of the room and the location. The dinner was practically inedible. Salads left out uncovered and not chilled. Hot food was really bad. Dining room was like a realy bad school canteen. Paper clothes and salt and pepper in containers as bought. Ihave stayed in small hostals that were of a better standard.
