H10 Universitat - Barcelona, Spain     

Wasn't sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews - so we emailed the hotel and requested a large, modern room near the top of hotel (good for views & noise) and this is exactly what we got - ask for room 702 - its great! Although we did ask for a Double and got a twin, but as the room was so nice, we just pushed the beds together and actually caught up on some sleep too! Great location is an understatement - just off Playa de Catalunya and the Ramblas and just a few minutes walk from everything including the Airport Bus stop (just aim for top left corner of square!). Really easy to get around and the architecture is beautiful - better than expected. We did the tourist bus on the first day (red route is best) so it gave us our bearings and highlighted the tourist bits. Then the following days we just caught the Metro everywhere as its so easy and cheap and you can go whereever you wish. Park Guell and sagrada familia are defintely worth a visit and do the guided tour in the Sagrada, as you find out alot more than just walking around it. Also did the inside of La Pedras/Casa Mila, which if your a Gaudi fan, is worth it. The walk up to Park Guell is worth it, as you have great views and great scenery too. Have fun and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for 3 nights and although the room was small it was spotlessly clean with all modern fittings. The one downside was that the wardrobe space was tiny, but the staff and the breakfast made up for it. The breakfast was very good and better than we have experienced in other city centre hotels. The hotel was ideally situated just off the top of La Ramblas and close to the metro, tourist bus and local buses ( about 3 minutes walk ) There really is plenty to see and do in Barcelona and this H10 hotel is a lovely hotel to stay in.
