4Having looked specifically for a place where we could be somewhat independent and cook for ourselves, the Apartment Konvikt was a great choice. We went with the smallest apartment on offer - the studio - and were prepared to be a little cramped, but it was still more than large enough, with great facilities, and a lovely view out onto rooftops (it was on the fifth floor, reached by the tiniest lift imaginable!). We loved not having to be in a hotel restaurant for breakfast by a certain time, and not having to eat every meal out, so the facilities were definitely worth it, and the location was hard to beat - less than five minutes' walk to the Charles Bridge, and handy for bus and metro stations if desired (though being so close, we chose to walk most of the times).
Overall a very enjoyable and satisfactory experience. Our only suggestions for improvements:
- while the kitchen was well-stocked, there were some odd omissions - not enough bowls, for example; no can opener; and while there was a dishwasher there were no tablets for it! so we ended up washing by hand
- I'd specifically arranged payment by credit card, and was told this was fine, but when the time came to pay I was told - by the cleaner, whose English wasn't the best - that they expected cash... well, we simply had none, and there was an unpleasant moment or two as we debated what to do, while our taxi to the airport waited outside... we sorted it out no problem, but it was an unnecessarily stressful end to what had otherwise been a wonderful and problem-free stay.
