Rating this place a 1 is very generous. We had asked for an accessible room as we were travelling with an infant, pram, and two oversized suitcases. After being dropped off in what appeared to be a red light district we finally found the reception area (the reception is across the street from the hotel). We were directed to a
place down the street and discovered that our room was in what can best be described as an attic. With no lifts we had the greatest difficulty getting two suitcases, a pram and small child up the spiralling staircase to the 'accessible' room in the attic!
After figuring out what appeared to be a 300 year old lock we opened the door to find a dark, dingy and dirty little room. there was a hole in the roof which was delightful- making you feel extra safe and
the dirty and tiny little bathroom had a number of holes in the wall and fallen tiles. When i say dirty it wasnt neccessarily because the cleaning staff were not doing their job but mainly because the rooms are so delapitated that everything feels very dirty. It was the kind of place in which you dont take off your shoes and in which, if you use the shower you have to shower in thongs.
We couldnt find anywhere closeby for dinner and had to eventually settle for takeaway soup- served in a gherkin jar because that was the best we could find.
Breakfast was served in an underground location and was very very basic. But having said that the staff who served it were very nice. The staff at reception werent very helpful.
The location was probably 20 minutes walk into the main square which isnt too bad.
I wouldnt recommend this hotel especially if travelling with children. We came very close to booking another place because it was so bad.
