4.4I have to admit, we were a bit wary when we eventually found the hotel (down a path into the park, down steps and then the lack of signs meant 20 minutes of wandering around trying to find it before realising that the bright orange bungalow-style building surrounded by the security fence WAS our hotel (the pics taken by the visitors on the site would never open for me)). However, the staff were very friendly and helpful (some more so than others, but isn’t that always the case!) and the room very clean and comfortable (it was the green room, based on Jan Saudek).
Yes, the train line does run close by and there are some trains running in the night, but the noise is certainly no more than you would get in your average city (considerably less I felt) and this was considering that we slept with the window open (the rooms were kept very warm. Possibly I only thought this because I prefer my rooms to be on the cooler side.)
Getting into & out of the city is very easy. I wouldn’t recommend the Train (purely because trying to figure out the train times to get back out of the City was a nightmare) but the buses run very frequently and to time (they had timetables on the reception desk) and the metro is superb. We weren’t out past midnight, so didn’t have any problems.
Of the local restaurants, one was very pricey & the other was closed for renovations but since it only took about 15 minutes to get into town once on the bus (131 to Hradcanska then a metro journey of however far you wanted to go into town) it was no hardship & we probably found far nicer places to eat than we may otherwise have done.
The breakfast was a good selection of cereals, breads, cheese, cold meat, conserves & fruits, with fruit juices & a selection of teas. If anything ran out there was no problem getting it refilled and they did so in an efficient and friendly manner.
We didn’t use the mini-bar at all, but did make use of the room phone as there was a family problem back in t
