I would like to offset some of the worst reviews of this hotel. Just what do some people expect for £20 sterling a night for a double room and a hearty breakfast! Yes, its a budget hotel. Yes, its probably more 2 star than 3 star (but aren't most hotels overrated in the star category). But, if you're on a budget - as we were, just in order to finally get to this most magic of cities - you can stay for 4 nights here for the same price as only 1 night in a city centre hotel. And if you're there to actually explore this magnificent city you'll need at least 4 nights just to experience its main attractions. We had a packed 5 days - and still need to go back to see more! The hotel itself - though no, not freshly decorated to the highest standards - was clean, with clean sheets (tho' beds a bit hard), warm, clean bathroom (though not the most modern) and clean towels daily with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was more than adequete to set you up for the day with good bread, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, boiled eggs, cheese, ham, tomatoes, fruit juice, tea, coffee - and more, probably worth the price of the hotel in itself. And as the public transport is fantastic - we never had to wait more than 3 minutes - even having just missed a tram to the city centre - for the next one to come - and the 3 or 7 day passes for tram, underground and buses are very cheap - why not stay here and save your money for the lovely restaurants, cafes, concerts, entry fees, and generally enjoying yourself. Yes, we'd have loved to stay in one of the art nouveau gems of this magnificent city - but we just ate in them instead! If you're on a budget, don't overlook this hotel - unless you can find a better one for the price - tell me - for my next visit!
