5Myself and my boyfriend stayed in the Barcelo Praha for the weekend and I have to say for E100 for 3 nights it was an absolute bargain!! Rooms are spotless, they have internet access in the lobby which was perfect for sending emails home, great food, good wine, it was less than a five minute walk to the metro (When we walked the right way!) it was less than 10 mins to Prague on the metro and that was right at Wenslasas square. So location wise this hotel couldn't be more perfect.
Now for the down side-the staff were absolutely deplorable! On our first day (1 hour after just checking in!) we got a tad lost looking for the metro (we turned right instead of turning left oooops!) but we made our way back to the hotel to ask for directions rather than getting even more lost! The receptionist sighed and simply pointed to where we were supposed to be going.....The following morning I was up early so I decided to go down to the internet and send an email. The sign said it was 45kc for 15 minutes, so I went to the desk and asked for change for the internet, which I was given. When I went to put the coins into the computer I realised that there was no slot, so I went back to the desk to ask what to do. The receptionist (Martin) rolled his eyes to heaven, sighed heavily and slouched out past the desk to put a password into the computer and silently went back to the recpetion. Apparently what i had to do when I was finished I go to the desk and pay( I had to work this out myself!! Everything seemed to be an ordeal! I would even go as far as to say they were the most unpleasant, rudest hotel employees I have ever encountered
The bar staff are much friendlier, but this is only in realation to other staff in the hotel, but in the 3 nights I was there I found the service to be VERY slow. We waited 1/2 an hour one night for our Chicken baguette to come out (and we were one of 3 couples in the bar) and on our last night I had ordered some nachos to nibble on which were forgotten about twice! But at least the were friendly.
I know the hotel was an extremely good bargain, but I still feel that there should be some level of customer service in every hotel be it a 2, 3 or 4 star hotel. I feel the Barcelo Praha is very lacking in this, which is a shame because it has everything else going for it!
