Hotel is about 10 mins from Wenceslas Square and then another 10-15 mins from there to Ols Town Square. The rooms are actually a lot smaller than they look on the website but are ok, bar the wardrobes look like they are MFI and fall apart. The one thing to watch is their Exchange rate from Euro's to Krona. We reserverd via laterooms.com in Euros and when we got there the hotel converted the Euros into Czech Krona at 26.5 Krona to the Euro which makes a significant difference to the price of your room. This added about ?15 per night for our room as we had based it on Euro's into Pounds.

We stayed at the Athena Palace for two nights. It was ideally situated for our purpose, being no more than about 15 minutes' walk from each of the State Opera and the National Theatre. Our rooms were situated on the third floor (no elevator) and were totally adequate for our short stay. Major plus points were the friendliness and 'can-do' attitude of the staff and the extent and variety of the inclusive buffet breakfast. This is a truly local hotel, the antithesis of one within an international group. It is redolent with the flavour of central Europe: if you are seeking anonymity and slick business support, this is not for you.
