We had to get a taxi from outside of the airport to the hotel which was quite a long journey. It's situated in the suburbs in quite a poor area which puts you off a little as you wouldn't want to walk around at night. There are no bars or restaurants within walking distance only the bright pink hotel itself. Although you have to get the hotel taxi which is free and regular to the train station then a train to the city center, we found the hotel to be in an ok location for getting to the city. Our room on the ninth floor was satisfactory but basic yet it catered for our needs as we spent most of our time out and about exploring the new and old town center. There are three restaurants in the hotel which are good and breakfast which is provided in the main room is excellent. Staff are friendly and polite, internet access is available, the outside bar in the garden is pleasant and the swimming pool which you have to pay for is good if you go off peak. Overall a good stay and value for money hotel.

Hotel Duo - Excellent Hotel

My sister and I have just returned from a five night stay at the Hotel Duo, Prague. On check in we found the staff very friendly and a porter took our cases and escorted us to our rooms. We were pleasantly surprised at the size and cleanliness of the rooms. The rooms were very spacious with plenty of storage space. The cleaners came in daily to clean and change towels etc. The rooms were well ventilated and you could control your heating. The facilities in the Hotel were excellent. Choice of two restaurants plus a lobby bar where you could get light snacks and prices were not expensive. The breakfast was superb. Full English or Continental. All the staff in the Hotel were very friendly and helpful. A shuttle bus service from the hotel took us to the metro station to go the centre of Prague.Tickets could be obtained at the hotel information desk and the price of this ticket could also be used for the tram/bus services. The shuttle bus finished at 8.30pm at night but you could get a bus number 177 or 187 back to the Hotel on the opposite side of the road to the metro station and get off at the stop "Liberecka". My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and highly recommend it. Although a little way out of the centre this was not a problem. All in all a superb hotel and the sports centre with its swimming pool, bowling alley, fitness centre, beauty shop, hairdresser, manicure and solarium was an added bonus.

HOTEL ADVANTAGES: free shuttle bus to metro (when they can be bothered!) info desk (they will book ur tours but won't help u in any other way!) the shampoo/soap smells nice and showers are sooo powerful! HOTEL DISADVANTAGES if you paid more than £50 for 3 nights each u've been ripped off! they had an offer on which meant free upgrade to a suite for same price and they would not let us change our booking. staff are really rude/don't smile/very un helpful and miserable. the cost of bowling doubles at 4pm-we got there at 2 minutes to after running and they demanded he higher price (180czk to 360-£5-£10 for 1 hour) the place was dead as well 1 other group there. we didn't bother.! booked myself and partner a massage (£13 30 mins backneck shoulder) -DON'T GO-she has badly bruised all around my shoulder blades and 2 days later it still feels tender-my partner cancelled his only to find out it had never been booked in first place! breakfast was truly awful! i love sausages and what they served up there was far from tasting like a sausage! we stuck to stale croissants for rest of stay! TIPS IN PRAGUE def make use of shutttle bus to ladvi-then metro is only a short distance form centre muzeum stop(right on wenseslas square) cost about 80czk (£2.40) for a 24hr ticket. DO NOT EXCHANGE MONEY IN PRAGUE-they show one rate on board but this is usually if you buy more than 50,000czk in 1 go. we got ripped off-exchange rate of 28 to the £ (usually about 36-post office UK)-and they will ignore u if u ask for refund! GOING BACK TO AIRPORT-do not get taxi! about 700czk for up to 4 ppl (£21) instead get free shuttle tto ladvi metro-buy 14czk ticket and go for 2 stops where u can get direct bus to airport costing 45czk each -total cost per person from DUO to airport is 59czk (£2)!! we had no choice cos had been ripped off so much during our stay! November weather is really really cold-scarves and gloves essential. across road from DUO is a bus stop-every 10 mins or so is a bus number 0 this is a free bus and takes u to tesco (it's massive!) there are loads of other shops too-the bus goes round town in a circle so jump back on and u'll eventually get back to hotel! the city tours are a great way of seeing everything in the city-u can book form hotel wih free pick ups (some tours are same price as a taxi to town!) to treat my partner i had booked a limo with prague transfers online-£50 it was the same price from airport to hotel as booking for 1 hour. i asked how far he hotel was from airport to make sure it was worth it and she said 40 mins. i was really disappointed-when we got to airport the guy wasn't even holding up our name so ended up having to tell partner what i'd done-went outside saw limo so went back in to look. found him then 20 mins later we were at hotel! i was gutted-we hadn't even finished champagne-best getting taxi for about 15 quid it was a ruined experience. prague is a pretty city but it's people and service can really dampen ur spirits and ur holiday. i will never return to that city nor will i encourage others to go.

Hotel Duo ok,not so sure about Prague.

Hotel Duo is clearly a budget hotel catering for coach parties, although it is not a 4 star by British standards it is adequate for a short break.I found the rooms clean and the staff friendly and helpfull ,be carefull though iff you are taking children, the windows open fully outwards and the sills are only just above knee hight. The main complaint i had was the amount of smoking allowed, the lobby and bar areas were thick with smoke which drifts into the eating areas, and smoking was clearly taking place in the non smoking rooms.Transport to and from the city is so easy and safe and Prague is virtually crime free despite reports on various web sites. However,Prague is not an ideal tourist venue with only two main attractions ie the castle and Charles bridge neither of which is worth the visit. The rest of the city is full of tacky shops selling glass and costume jewellery.

Terrible place - don't stay here

This was an awful hotel. How could it have been rated 4 stars? It is much more like a one or 2 star hotel. First of all, it is miles away from anyway, and too far to walk to the nearest metro. The staff were unhelpful, and tried to charge us a supplement for the 3rd person in our party, even though we had booked and paid for a room ofr 3 persons. The breakfast was inedible, the sausages and ham were foul, and the coffee thick, cold, and gluggy. The rooms so not have air conditioning, so you have to choose between sleeping in hot and airless room, or have the window open and be kept awake by the noise from the motorway next to the hotel. The room was dirty with holes in the walls. The driver of the shuttlebus to the metro was incredibly rude. I asked where we should wait to take the suttlebus back to the hotel and was shouted at in Czech. We were booked in for 3 nights but left after one night. It was truly the most awful experience we have ever had in a hotel.
