We stayed at the Residence Hotel Mala Strana in Prague for 4 nights in late June, 2008. The front desk staff was helpful, the room we had was adequate with comfortable beds, and the hotel served a delicious breakfast. Better still, the hotel is located close to several tram lines . Also, it is within walking distance of the National Theater and the Charles Bridge. We had the smaller of two sizes of rooms which the hotel refers to as a junior suite. At 24 square meters, about 260 square feet, it was adequate because we were not in the room much except at night. The larger size senior suite is 41 square meters or about 450 square feet. It would have provided much more space. Although the room we had was adquate for the two of us, the larger room would have been better for a longer stay. The breakfast, which was included in our room rate, was very good. There was plenty eat, good variety, excellent quality, and all the coffee and tea you could want. Although the kitchenette could be used for light cooking, we did not really use it other than to take advantage of the small refrigerator and the tea-making facilities. I booked directly through the hotel's web site. Before I arrived I had a few questions which someone on the front desk answered promptly and accurately via email. Several different young men staffed the front desk in the evenings. The man on the front desk spoke some English, and all of them were usually quite helpful. As an added feature, there was free Internet access, which for a web junkie like me was welcome. The hotel lobby is small, but there is a nice sitting area toward the rear of the building on the first floor which we inspected but did not actually use. The hotel is close to a several tram lines. One of the lines goes to the Prague Castle and the Strahov Monastery. Another tram line crosses the bridge and goes past the National Theater and through the downtown area. A third line that we used took us close enough to the Dvorak Museum that it was an easy walk. We found the tram system easy to use and tickets were available from the hotel desk. Would I use the hotel again? Yes, I think so. For the money, I felt it was a good value.

My husband & I had a lovely trip to Prague in early April. The weather was cold and it rained most days but only for a short while & then brightened up. The Mala Strana area is on the other side of the river from Wenceslas Square but only about 20 minute walk. It ia a quieter area , away from the stag parties. We were there for 6 days and did not need to use the public transport at all, though I believe it is quite cheap and very dependable. We walked everywhere. There are some lovely restaurants and some great jazz venues. I'd particularly recommend Restaurant David which is up near the Castle. Great ambience & service. Food is lovely. We had a junior suite on the top floor of the hotel. We didn't cook but made tea & coffee & the fridge was handy too. The breakfast was good with a great choice ot hot & cold food. Hotel staff were very friendly & helpful and the rooms were cleaned every day. I'd recommend this hotel
