As other reviewers have stated there are two hotels with very similar names. This review is for U Zlate Studny at Karlova 3, 11000, Prague 1, Czech Republic in the Old Quarter. Location: The Studny is about one block from the Charles Bridge and centrally located to all the tourist sites in Praha. We easily walked to the Praha Castle, Jewish Quarter, and National Museum with three children in tow. The hotel is also national historic site having been built in the 16th century. Staff: Dagmar, Julie, and the rest of the U Zlate Studny staff are excellent hosts. I say hosts because you truly are their guests in this quaint hotel with only six rooms. They easily answered all our questions and arranged for a car pick-up for our arrival into Praha. Room: We stayed in the suite deluxe which is, no kidding, a small apartment. There is a foyer, dining room (small table with three chairs), living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The room has a small fridge, phone, tv with satellite (for English channels) and best of all a view of Karlova Street. Breakfast: Breakfast is included in the price of your room as is easily the best breakfast spread we have seen in our travels. There is the typical European breakfast spread, but you can also order eggs, bacon, sausage etc. Restaurant: The hotel has a restaurant in the cellar which is just as quaint as the hotel. The food is excellent and prices are great as well. No crazy add-ons (ie music charge) like other Praha restaurants. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Just make sure you choose the U Zlate Studny.

Try this hotel if you would like to see something special. I have been travelling around quite a lot, but I can say that this hotel has shown something which is difficult to describe. It oozes style, comfort and atmosphere. The service is simply perfect. You feel always taken care and there are so many kind details that it is almost impossible to list them. It is better to try.

We were at the Golden Well as part of our honeymoon in Prague in mid June. There are no words to describe our stay. We were at other hotels in Europe during the honeymoon, but no one can compare to this one. Fantastic location and service, not only during the stay but also before and after. We strongly recommend this hotel for any people travelling to Prague.

Charming hotel near Prague Castle

We had a fantastic short break at the Golden Well to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and only wish we could have stayed longer! We both felt that this must be the best hotel we have ever stayed in, for a number of reasons. Firstly, it has awonderful location at the foot of Prague Castle, in easy walking distance of the main tourist sights. The breakfast terrace has beautiful views of the city, and there is even a hidden gateway in the dining room which leads up a few steps into the Castle grounds. The staff provide an excellent, attentive and friendly service, including a welcome drink on the terrace with tips on some of the fascinating parts of the city. We were touched to receive a bottle of wine, cake, and fruit to help us celebrate our anniversary. The breakfasts are fantastic - as well as as an above-average buffet, there is a menu of gourmet hot dishes prepared by the chef, including Eggs Benedict, pancakes and ommelettes. These are all served in either the attractive breakfast room or the terrace which both have fine views over the city. There is also a guests lounge with hot water and tea bags always available, and complimentary wine and amuse bouches served at around 5pm The hotel has been beautifully converted from a historic house, used by the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II to lodge his court astronomer Tycho Brahe, and the charm of the building is complemented by the antique furnishings and pictures. We had a fair-sized room, with a comfortable bed, whirlpool bath and satellite TV, all in excellent condition and kept very clean. This is a truly wonderful hotel, and it's location and historic character make it the perfect base for a visit to Prague. Because the hotel is situated in a narrow cobbled alley, a car cannot be driven right up to the front door, although porters and drivers are very helpful with bags.
