Hotel Crystal Palace - Prague, Czech Republic

Spent Easter in Prague. The hotel is in a great location between Wenceslas Square and Charles Square. Many trams, including the main tourist tram, stop at the end of the road, and it is only a short walk to several metro stations. Room was clean & comfortable, excellent shower, underfloor heating in the bathroom a luxury touch. Breakfast was the usual buffet of cereals, meat & cheese platters, hot food, pastries etc. I experienced no problems with the buffet running low on anything. Staff in reception were helpful. Only improvement in the room would be tea/coffee making facilities.

Avoid This Hotel

When we arrived to this hotel we were told that our booking had been cancelled by the head office for no apparant reason, even though we contacted them a few days earlier to confirm the booking. We were treated like animals by the staff and were told to find another hotel ourselves.We found the whole experience very distressing. After about an hour of arguing with the hotel staff they said they have a room for us for 2 of our 4 nights, but at a higher price than we booked it for. We agreed to this as we have never been to prague before and had no idea if we could find another hotel. Our first day in Prague was spent looking for a hotel for our last 2 nights. We though the hotel service was below par and the attitude of the staff was inadequate. The room was very small and the shower was broken. At the breakfast room the staff were abrupt and didn't like it if you stayed there longer than 10am. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody wishing to visit Prague. Try the SAS Radission instead, it is a bit more expensive but a better service and closer to Wenslaw Square.

this hotel was great value for money. it is in a good location, just off wenceslas sq and is in walking distance for most attractions. the bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. room was clean and had a large tv (only 2 english speaking channels though). the only down side was the breakfast. there was not a great deal of choice and the buffett did tend to run low if you went towards the end of the time slot.this was a minor downfall. i would recommend changing your currency from sterling to czech crown in prague as the exchange rate is much better. prague is a beautiful city and we had a lovely time. i would add just 1 other comment and that is to avoid the jalta hotel's restauraunt 'Hot'. the service is terrible and the waiting staff were very rude. there are plenty of other places to eat where the service and prices are better.
