1We stayed at this hotel for four nights. Having read the reviews on this site, I specifically asked, at the time of booking, for a rear room so as to avoid the noise.
When we got there, we discovered on opening the room door that we had got a front room - as soon as the door opened, all you could hear was racket from the street. We thought we would see how it went for the first night.
Unfortunately, for that night and the other three, we barely got a wink of sleep. Drunks, traffic, roadworks (every morning, including sunday, from before 6am) - the window was triple glazed and we were on the 7th floor, but the noise was unbearable. The room was also like daylight because of a huge floodlit sign across the street and no curtains on our window.
We complained but the receptionist couldnt have cared less, she told us they were full and the only available room was a twin (hardly ideal for a romantic break) and we would have to pay more. We refused, and so were stuck with no sleep for the entire duration of our stay. While we were complaining, another guest came down to complain for the same reason. Receptionist was just surly, rude and uninterested.
Some others here have said, ask for a rear room and youll be ok - but dont trust the hotel to bother taking any notice of your request.
The room was ok, clean and nice enough, though certainly not worth the almost £100 a night we paid.
Avoid.
