Another HIGH recommendation"Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3My wife and I stayed at the Golden Wheel for 5 nights during our honeymoon, in early May 2007.
Everything, starting from our booking (via email) to our check out has been perfect.
Hotel location is ideal. For the ones that think about staying in Stare Mesto, in the Historic town centre, near the astronomical clock square, I urge them to think it over. Mala Strana (Lesser town) is the best place to stay in Prague. Romantic, cozy, more aristocratic and not so full of tourists (so quiet when you need it to be). The hotel lies in Nerudova street, a lovely street leading uphill to the castle, but is located only have way up the street, so you avoid climbing all the way up when returning home from the centre. As other reviewers have already mentioned, many nice restaurants can be found in this area; don't miss the "3 Violins", just one block away from the hotel!
Hotel reception and staff are superb. Special reference given to Theresa who helped us plan our dinner and concert reservations, as well as our trips outside of Prague.
When in the room, you will miss nothing. Everything is totally clean, room service brings you anything the cafe Arcadia (located on the ground floor, next to the reception) serves. Private internet connection in each room really helps conducting any business you have to attend to, while TV is provided with major satellite channels (although I do not think you should care, when in Prague!). Breakfast buffet is quite good with very nice variety of choices.
Last but certainly not least, if you ask for superior room with a small private terrace facing the Prague castle (!), you will not be disappointed.
Synopsis: If you like the price, you have nothing to think about.
