Location

City Centre, Near Subway, Old Town

The hotel is superbly located in the centre of Prague, on the right bank of the Vlatava River. The beautiful, historic Charles Bridge is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel and the Old Town Square is just 5 minutes away. Most of Prague’s magnificent attractions are within walking distance, including The National Theater, The National Museum, The State Opera, The Clementinum Library, The Rudolfinum concert hall and the Jewish Quarter.

The hotel’s fantastic central location means it has excellent public transport links for exploring the whole of Prague and the surrounding area. The nearest Metro station is just 200 m from the hotel. The nearest train station is 2 km from the hotel and the nearest tram stop is just 20 m from the hotel.

Most of the city’s business centres are located within 10 minutes drive.

Charles Bridge (0.3 km) - Construction began on the bridge in 1357, under the auspices of King Charles IV. The bridge is 516 meters long and nearly 10 meters wide, resting on 16 arches. It is protected by three bridge towers. The Old Town bridge tower is often considered to be one of the most astonishing civil Gothic-style buildings in the world. The bridge is decorated by a continuous alley of 30 statues and statuaries, most of them Baroque-style, which were erected around 1700.

Prague Castle (1.3 km) – The largest ancient castle in the world houses several museums, including the National Gallery’s collection of Bohemian and Baroque art, exhibitions dedicated to Czech history, a toy Museum and the picture gallery of Prague Castle. The castle’s stunning gardens and interiors are both beautiful and fascinating.

Having visited quite a few luxurious hotels around the globe, I was astonished that only 1000km of the front door of my residence there is a hotel that could amaze me once more. By far this must be the most romantic hotel I've ever visited, with a very professional and friendly staff present. Everything went smoothly from the time I arrived at the airport, where the hotel had foreseen my transfer at a very competetive price compared with other taxis (950CZK = appr 35 euro), over check-in and residing there for four nights, until their limo dropped me off again at the airfield. The room, junior-suite deluxe with a superb overview of Charles Bridge and the Vltava river, was very stylish, being old-fashioned as it should be in a baroque residence but with a well-equipped modern bathroom and seperate toilet. The location is ideal - close to Pragues' best restaurants - near the city center but just far away enough to avoid the continuous crowdiness and noise. A walk to the centre only took me 6 minutes to be exact. Charles Bridge is only two minutes on foot! During my stay, the hotel was fully booked (all 50 rooms), yet I had the distinct impression that only 10 or 12 guest where residing there. It is the first hotel I ever encountered where you hear absolutely nothing at all of the other residents, not when they are in their rooms, not when they are walking down the corridors... Probably due to the thick walls and massive wooden doors, yet all these elements combined give you an enormous feeling of rest and privacy. Only downside is the lack of airconditioning, and normally this would cost points when I write a review, but I'm willing to make an exception in this case; to my humble opinion, by installing central airconditioning a great deal of charm of this building would be destroyed, and again for those who doubt it, the hotel overall is AT LEAST 5 stars worth, the level of service and courtesy of the staff can only be found in 5 1/2 star hotels. Since 2007, the MaMaison Pachtuv Palace is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and this is a membership-title they well deserve.
