4We spent three days at this centrally located hotel in Prague, which is a short walk from Wenceslas Square and the Old Town. The hotel is of a very high standard, and they really went to town when we told them it was our wedding anniversary with decorations and champagne in the room. The staff are generally very charming, breakfast is good and the room was very comfortable and well-equipped. There is a nice, if quiet, lobby bar. However, the hotel is marred by the attitude of its 'Club' restaurant staff: we pre-booked a post-opera dinner in the gourmet restaurant, explaining we planned to dine between 10.30 and 11 (the restaurant purports to be open until midnight). When we arrived for dinner, it took some time to locate a grumpy maitre d'it who grudgingly and sarcastically served us a not terribly impressive dinner. Dine at the Bellevue if you want fine dining, not here. And beware of the concierge trying to dissuade you from using the legitimate and excellent AAA taxi firm to the airport: it is cheaper than the hotel car. That said, this is an excellent hotel in every other respect, and it is definitely a good place to stay in Prague.
