Hotel San Marco - Prague, Czech Republic

Arriving late evening in October, we were met at the airport by a taxi booked through the hotel (around?16). The hotel was just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Prague. The receptionist spoke excellent English, and check in was fast. The room was enormous by British standards, warm and welcoming, and the bathroom was spotless with clean towels daily. The staff were both helpful and knowledgable. Breakfast was bland (continental) but there was plenty of it. I would certainly reccommend the San Marco Palace Hotel. Please be prepared for the changeable weather, in 4 days we experienced sunshine, rain and snow. Prague is a delightful city whose public transport system is superb and easy to understand. I would advise B & B as food is very cheap. Our most expensive evening cost us ?25 for the both of us, and this included a 3 course meal each, a superb bottle of red wine, a couple of glasses of beer each and a jazz trio playing in the corner of the room. Around the main square prices are a little higher, but walk up any side street and you can enjoy an excellent pint for 50 pence. Prague is a culture lover's paradise, and even if you're only there because everything is cheap, you can't fail to be impressed by this beautiful city, to which we will certainly return.

Just returned from above hotel. Excellent hotel for the price. Good sized modern clean rooms, adequate continental breakfast, in an excellent location for centre of town with metro and tram stops close by. However, we would just advise other brits to make sure that they take euros to pay their hotel bill or (as we unfortunately did) if you pay by czks your bill will be considerably more due to the poor exchange rate from euro to czk. Prague was great. Do not miss the funicular railway the views are fantastic and also the boat trip down the river.
