A great bae for a trip to Prague

We booked to stay at this hotel through lastminute and paid £70 per night. We were hoping for a pleasant hotel, not budget and this is exactly what we got - we stayed in room 48 which was a double room with en-suite shower/wc and a balcony. Not huge but absolutely fine for a week's stay. The hotel was on a quiet road but only a couple of minutes walk to the nearest metro and about 15 minutes walk to be right in the middle of everything. We tend to walk but found the metro very efficient and easy to use and it was great for getting back at the end of the day. Literally just round the corner from the hotel. The reception staff were very pleasant, spoke good English and were helpful about ordering a taxi, giving us additional pillows and changing a large note (2000 ck) for some smaller ones. The reception was open 24 hours per day and there was a baggage store to leave our suitcase on the final day when we didn't need to leave until late afternoon. Only minor issue was that there was no tea and coffee in the room but you could have tea ./ coffee/ hot chocolate on a tray in reception for about 50p per pot which we did on a couple of occasions. Breakfast was very good. I am veggie, my partner is not and we both enjoyed the selection - pastries, fruit, yoghurts, cheese, ham, rolls, scrambled eggs, baked beans, bacon and sausages - plus organge juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate - all self service so you could have as much or as little as you wanted. Our room was quiet - it was on the 4th floor so little "passing traffic" and there was a lift although it only stops between floors so you do have to walk a few steps up or down to get to rooms, reception and breakfast room. We had a fridge in our room - drinks were a reasonable price (coke for 50p, beer 50p, wine about £2 for a small bottle) but it was also big enough that we could store drinks we bought in the supermarket in there too. The hotel policy is to change sheets every 3 days if you are staying for a while - we were happy to keep the same ones for the whole week. With towels you decide - if you leave them in the shower they replace them, if you hang them up they leave them. There was a heated towel rail in the bathroom. We were very pleased with the service and location of the hotel and would stay there again if we went back to Prague.

We have just spent an excellent 3 days at this hotel and cannot fault it. The room, although a little small, was spotless with a lovely bathroom. Ask for a room at the back- 48 was great as it had a little balcony and was extremely quiet. I can imagine rooms at the front could be a little noisy. The breakfast was great! Loads of choice of cereal, hot and cold options, tea coffe etc and always somewhere to sit. It is located only 15 minutes walk from Wenceslas Square and only 1 minute walk to the Metro and tram- perfect after a long day's walk! There are a few restaurants nearby and for those who have not been before be VERY CAREFUL about being ripped off by restaurants on the main tourists routes as they will often say that the cheaper things are not available on the menu and then give you more expensive options- do not go to the Mystic cafe just below the castle £6 for 2 beers was mad- and they say you cannot only have sandwiches at lunchtime only the expensive main courses! We found some excellent places 2 or 3 streets back from Wenceslas Square where you could have a couple of beers, a main course each and some side dishes for £7.50 total!!!! One other tip- visit the castle and cathedral about 4pm onwards as all the tours have been and gone and you won't have to queue. So all in all a great hotel, very reasonably priced and a great city!

From the moment we arrived at this hotel and saw the big, shaggy black dog sitting by the heater I new that this was going to be a great hotel. Very clean, very friendly staff. Would highly reccomend this hotel. Good location on top of a hill - although not too many food places around. Cam with free dog hugs!

Nice Place to stay

Had a great stay! Got a good price on Expedia ~ $80 CAD. This place is a solid 3 star hotel. The room was a bit on the small and simple side though it was nice, clean, and well maintained. Hotel was very close to the street car, so getting around was very easy. We traveled by by Rail to Prague and found the transfers between the subway and streetcars very easy to make. Hotel was also within walking distance of Pivovar U Fleku! -- A must see if you go to Prague! -- and many others. You are also within walking distance to Wenceslas Square, though it is a bit of a hike.
