"Very pleased with Hotel Stirka"

My father and I spent three nights at the Hotel Stirka in November of 2005. The room was very clean, quiet and large enough for our needs (how much room do you need anyway?). The beds were comfortable and the en suite bathroom (with normal sized bathtub) was large with plenty of hot water. The breakfast, which was quite good, had both hot and cold items. The hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating. There is a computer with free internet access in the lobby. The Kobylisky metro stop is within easy walking distance as is the tram stop (Stirke ke). The city center is only 15 mins by metro. The Stirka is located in a working class area of Prague. If you are a hotel snob, this is not the place for you. But is your want clean, comfortable, safe and AFFORDABLE, you won't be dissappointed.

Nice Clean Little Hotel

Been there with a group of friends. It is a really good small hotel. It gives a really bad first impression when you walk through the door and you got to go the basement to get to the lobby. Breakfast was great with lots to choose from. The rooms were clean and tidy. It is a bit far from the center but the Kobylisy metro station is quite near so thats no problem.

Hotel Stirka, not bad but kinda far from the city

This hotel was a nice change from where I had stayed at in Paris just days before. I don't know that i would stay there again, as i felt it was rather far from the city. Yes, you can take the metro, but I'd like to have been a bit closer. Also, there is NO ELEVATOR, I'm sure lots of hotels in Europe don't have them, but if this is very important to you, fyi. I had one suitcase and i had to drag it up 6 flights of stairs...good European experience :) The room was surprisingly spacious, we were on one of the top floors, so it was slanted, nice to be able to open windows (even if weather was rainy and cold). Also, big bathroom with decent hair dryer and surprisingly good lighting. No shower, just a tub but with hand held shower head, no problem for me but my high maintenance travel partner was none to happy (i laughed at that one). The breakfast was pretty good too. breads, jams, eggs to order, meats cheeses, more then enough to eat. the staff, i dealt with 3 different ones, i'd say they were fine, not rude, but not that personable either, one was very nice though and even printed out a train schedule for me to find our way to Kunta Hora. also, there is a computer in the lobby you can use. it was nice, price efficient, just a bit to far from the city for me, oh and every time you flushed the toilet, it squealed for 5 minutes, seriously, and I'm talking loud.
