2Rather unimpressed on arriving at hotel splendid, its title did not reflect our first impression. The receptionist was very rude and unhelpful. The lobby area had an awful aroma of chip fat and this lingered for the duration of our stay. The room was very interesting to say the least. To begin with the corridor resembled a walk in freezer as all the doors to the rooms opened outwards and were huge. The 'double room' consisted of two single beds pushed together although they did turn out to be very comfortable. The shower was very good, with decent water pressure although the tiling was very unimpressive and I felt like I was showering in a butchers shop.
The hotel was in a good location with good transport links to the centre of the city.
Breakfast was very bland although as it was included in the price we took full advantage to fill our stomachs
Throughout the duration of our stay we found the staff very rude and they didn't even have the decency to look at us whilst talking to us on some occasions. On leaving we asked for a taxi and the receptionist didn't even lift his head from his magazine whilst sternly replying. When our taxi did eventually arrive we noticed en route that it wasn't a taxi at all, no plates, no taxi licence and no meter. He charged us double what we paid to get to the hotel using a local taxi firm. We were truly ripped off. We at least expected a reliable taxi from the hotel to the airport but instead were taken for mugs!!!!
