My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Atlantic for 2 nights during the last week in October 2007 and had a great stay in Prague. Prague
is a great place to visit and this hotel helped to make our stay very
enjoyable.
We booked the hotel because of three things - the location, the good reviews on here and the price. Well, the location of the hotel is great - 1 minute walk to Náměstí Republiky metro station, 5-10 mins walk from Old Town Square and about 15-20 mins from Charles Bridge. The price was great too - £60 per night from Lastminute. And the reviews were accurate as the hotel was pretty good as well
We had a large, if plain looking room on the top floor (502). It was very quiet and had an OK view overlooking the back of the hotel. The bed appeared to be a double bed with a double mattress but in fact it
was a double bed with two single mattresses on top. The 2 mattresses came apart very easily which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. The décor of the room was a bit dated but fine.
But there were plenty of positives - the bathroom, and especially the
shower, was great. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast was nice with plenty of choice (although the orange juice wasn't fresh orange, it was diluted orange squash which wasn't nice). The bar was nice and the barman was friendly but their
white wines weren't great (we had a sauvignon blanc and a local Czech wine and they were awful). But to be fair when we drank at the bar we'd just got back from a fantastic meal at the restaurant next to the Franz Kafta museum where we drank some great NZ sauvignon blanc so perhaps the hotel wines paled into insignificance compared to this.
But all of the negatives were outweighed by the price and location so
I'd recommend this hotel if you want to stay in Prague.
