Why are there so many negative reviews?

I have just returned from Prague and stayed in this particular hotel. After reading so many negative reviews on here, I am pleased to say that my boyfriend and I found the hotel comfortable, pleasant and very good value for money. We had NO bedbugs, our room was cleaned everyday and towels were replaced everyday too. The breakfast was impressive with a wide range of food on offer. It was so good that we often had three platefuls of food each! The staff were very helpful, informative and spoke English well. As for location, it may not be in the city centre but the Metro station Kobylisy is a five minute walk away. Also, you can buy Metro tickets from reception, which saved time and hassle from buying them at the station. Just to point out, it only takes ten minutes to get to the main attractions. Overall, we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Prague for its value for money, cleaniness of rooms and delicious breakfast!

Horrible
Small room, terrible bed, loud at night

This hotel, Aida is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. However, it is far short of its star value for its comfort, friendliness and location. Their room is really small. I could barely move around the room with my wife. Their bed is too soft. It can potentially hurt your back if you sleep on their bed too long. Since this hotel gets a fair number of young czech student types, I was awoken up twice at 1 AM and 2:10 AM by loud young guests who returned from their drinking outing. I could hear their loud drunken yelling from the hallway. Their staff was quite uninformed. I asked two young staffs at ten p.m. how much it would cost to make a local call from my room. They were clueless. Last but not least, the main staff relied on a rather higher czech currency rate against euro when he was calculating our room rate. So, be sure to double-check your bill when he makes this conversion.

Hotel Aida, Prague 2008: An unbiased Review.
Posted: Tue, Jun 24 2008
Hotel Aida, Prague: A Review: My wife and I stayed at the recently refurbished Aida Hotel, Prague, in June 2008. The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and the room servicing was excellent. Breakfast was a joy: Three varieties of cooked that changed daily, and copious amounts of cold meats and cheeses, not to mention the many different cereals, fruits, yoghurts and salad, yes; salad, on offer each day. The Hotel itself was very clean and to quite a high standard for the area, the only downturn is that there is no lift in the hotel, so for the elderly and for families with young children this will be a problem. But this is very easily remedied, simply call either Eva Skladanova at Registration (00 420 251 09 11 11) or Milan Smitka on the Hotel's Reception Desk (00 420 284 68 0628) a few days before you go, and they'll put you in to a Ground or First floor room. we did, and they did. Lastly, at a 3-minute walk from the hotel, and right by the Tram Stop is the Troja Restaurant. Don't bother with going downtown to eat, the food here is about the best you will get, and their Manager, Jiri Hajek speaks perfect English (he worked for three years in Manchester and London) -and the surroundings are great too. Weekends get crowded, so reserve, 00420 824 000 666. Would we go back? To the Hotel Aida, and the Troja, YES! But to Prague, we'd have to think about that, as Prague is not cheap, and it's ALL cobbles (we really did hurt our feet walking). But the Tram system is brilliant! Stuff those guided tours, use the trams and see all of Prague amongst friendly, helpful people, we did, and we’ve come away with wonderful memories.. M & E Haine: June 2008.
