City Hotel Moran - Prague, Czech Republic     

We booked this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews, spent 4 nights there, and were delighted. Compared to more central hotels in Prague, the City Hotel Moran was considerably less expensive but not lacking. Room was large and well-equipped, including a super comfortable bed, great shower, noise-blocking windows, and flat-screen TV. Getting to the main tourist areas was not a problem with tram and metro stops a few steps away, but most often we walked, including to Prague Castle, the Old Town, and back. Staff were plentiful, helpful, unfailingly courteous, English speaking, and we highly recommend taking the hotel’s taxi instead of risking highway robbery with Prague’s cab drivers (otherwise, only take AAA cabs at Fair Price taxi stands). We could have probably done with a greater variety of restaurants close by, but there’s an arcade with shops and restaurants almost across the street from the hotel and a Billa grocery store around the corner. Breakfast featured an ever-changing array of breads, cereals, cold-cuts, eggs and sausage or bacon but we learned that the coffee tasted much better if we got there early. Overall, a good value, especially for Americans looking to make their devalued dollar go farther, although most of the guests appeared to be from elsewhere in Europe, especially Germany. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!
