I have just returned from a 4-night stay at this hotel. I booked before kootenaydrifter posted his review, but you can see other reviews on Booking.com. I asked for a quiet room, and amazingly I was given room 301, the same as kootenaydrifter. I agree with most of what he says. The room does indeed have a terrace with view, but I can't agree as to its attractiveness - see photo. That room does have attractive oak beams, although on inspection, they are more cosmetic than structural. And easy to bump your head on too. A few more of my comments........the hotel lift only goes up to the 2nd floor. Rooms on the third are accessed by a slightly curving flight of wooden stairs, which might be awkward for visitors with mobility issues. Also the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors are non-smoking. My only other, very slight criticisms are the beds are distinctly on the "firm" side, and although the hotel looks to have been refurbished within the last year, the towels certainly aren't that new. The hotel is in the pedestrian zone, but service, delivery, building vehicles all need access, as do taxis etc, so it's not quite as quiet as it might be. However, unless you must have 5 star luxury or a 4-poster bed with frills and lacy stuff (Hotel Orphee across the lane will give you that), then Am Pach is a great place to stay for a few nights to see this beautiful city. [----] - only in German at the moment. [----] for a free street map - this might only apply to European addresses.
