Our stay, like every other we've experienced at the Station Hotel, was as a result of attending a function there. This will earn you a discount on the room price, if you mention this after enquiring about room rate. Since the last time I stayed there (over a year ago) work must have been going on to improve the décor etc. It is an improvement but the work hasn’t finished yet. It’s still a large (and I would guess) Victorian building with high ceilings throughout, full of character. They’re still upgrading the ground level and will gradually move up through the floors (they said). The function rooms are of a good size and the staff helpful, although it can take a while before drinkable beer comes out. Our room was in the front of the hotel, opposite the station and yes you can tell when trains are coming and going. On the Saturday in question the first train is around 07:45, so no real problem. Also outside is a busy inner ring road, which is noisy, but most was filtered out by the double glazed windows. There were however, quite a few details not well attended to in the room, for example, the remote TV control didn’t work, neither did the Expelair or the shaving light in the bathroom, which had no soap (all OK if you’re not sharing). Breakfast was not as good as it used to be, because although the food was fine the service could have been better due solely, I think, to the staff who were willing but spoke little English. The ‘small’ car park at the rear now has a barrier, just make sure you go right up to it to make it open, you’ll need a token to operate it from the inside. Once you’re out of your car, there’s no sign, but the door on the left will take you more directly to reception, if you press the button and ask for it to be opened. For staying the night after a function it’s OK, but if I were staying there longer I would make sure I didn’t have a room at the front.

Hi there
I had to stay here through work as all other Aberdeen Hotels were full!
Firstly it isn't in the best area of Aberdeen!!!
Hotel car park was terrible - no spaces and no security. I ended up parking in the station car park - also open with no barriers or security.
Hotel room was terrible. Bathroom was full of mould and peeling paint. Hairdryer was broken and the cord broken.
Bed was uncomfortable with really old quilts and bedcovers.
Lighting made the room very gloomy and dark.
terrible athmosphere!
Ordered Fish and Chips on room service and ended up with poached fish on a bed of onions.
I was then told be room service ( couldn't speak much english!) that that was what I ordered and then wouldn't agree that that wasn't what I ordered.
The shower head was filthy and the bathroom was smelly.
I checked out 1st thing - and didn't hang around for breakfast.
I think the hotel is being renovated - maybe they just didn't get as far as the room I was staying in!
