Stayed with my family for 3 nights in June. The hotel is not really located at the prime location at Sukhumvit, you need to walk a 5 minutes no shade, no pavement road to the BTS station. Swimming pool is small, or we should call a 'play pool'. We needed to walk pass the car park to access, not so friendly for the young children. Most of the staff are not friendly, we did not see any Thail smiles behind the front desk, concierge and the worst is the restaurant host. It looks like we are giving her trouble to assign our tables. If you like to stay at the hotel with happy working staffs to accompany your holdiay, this is not your choice.

As always we arrived in Bangkok in the early hours of the morning after a 9 hour flight. We caught our taxi to the Hotel and were greeted by hotel staff with smiles and warm welcomes for us both. How can they be so cheerful at 2am it makes me sick! We were quickly through the check in process and were then told that due to the hotel being full that they had to upgrade our Deluxe King room to a King Suite – no complaints here! The Suite that we were appointed was very generous in size. The bedroom is divided away from the lounge area by large sliding glass doors. The bedroom itself was large enough for the two of us, but had everything we needed including a mid sized LCD TV all the room lights and air conditioning controls are maintained by touch panel controls on the walls and next to the bed. The bathroom is well designed with the bath and shower located behind glass doors separating the rest of the bathroom area. The hotel is situated just off Sukhumvit Rd within 5 minutes walk to Nana BTS. There are two ways you could walk to Sukhumvit Rd. Right turn out of the hotel and walk down a quiet side street or left turn and walk into the crowded Soi Nana with its nightlife bar area and the seedy ecosystem that accompanies such areas. Both directions have merits and are elements in what makes Bangkok tick. We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Sukhumvit and would recommend to both individuals and families. The staff are more than helpful with information and attention to detail is as best as it gets…something a lot of hotels in our home state should be attentive towards. It’s the little touches that you remember – just look out for the security officer at the entrance salute and click the metal taps on his shoes firmly together as you pass him by…salute him back and you may get a bonus click!
