I stayed at the Hilton for 4 nights over New Year and did enjoy my time in the hotel. On check-in on the ground floor I was advised that I would be upgraded to the executive floor as I have a Hilton HHonors Gold Card. This meant going up to the executive check-in on the 8th floor to be greeted with a glass of champagne and then handed the keycard to our room on the 7th floor. A straightorward and efficient check-in. The room itself was spacious, well equipped and well furnished. It was a pleasure to stay in the room and the bed was very comfortable as well. The executive lounge was also where we were treated to breakfast each morning and it was a decent standard with the usual fare. As this was a holiday period the lounge was very busy and sometimes there was a 5 minute wait to get a table prepared. More staff would have been welcome as the poor girl running the room was constantly rushed off her feet! There was alcohol and soft drinks available for free throughout the day and the odd sandwich as well from what I saw. There is also a computer room with free internet access as well on the 8th floor which has 6 PCs accessible during Executive Lounge opening hours. Also, request a view out onto the river as this is will be a more pleasant experience that looking into the hotel atrium. We stayed inside the hotel on New Years Eve to experience the Hilton Gala Dinner. It was priced at €199 per person, and my girlfriend and I both agreed that it was over priced, and not worth it. The food was ok standards wise and was self service from the buffet. Annoyingly the wine waiter seemed to concentrate on one or two tables rather than distributing his services equally amongst all tables he was expected to served. I heard one other table complain about the overall quality of the night, and you couldnt really blame them to be honest. If I'm ever in Prague again for New Year then I'd go outside into the city. The service in the various bars and bistros throughout the hotel was acceptable. As previously mentioned the housekeeping service seem to have a problem with entering rooms when guests are still inside. On our last day the maid first knocked at our door at 8am, then 9am, then 10:30am. I thought it would have been obvious that we had not checked out, and if she wanted to confirm whether this was the case then surely she should have called the Exectuive Reception desk to see if this was the case?!?!? There was also some refurbishment work going on but apart from the odd bit of noise from some hammering this did not affect our stay. A nice hotel and one that I would visit again, however I would probably opt for one of the hotels next to the Castle area which really is the place to be with regards to location. If your a Honors Gold or Platinum member then it may appeal more given the free food and drink from the Executive Lounge.
