Please see an excerpt of a letter written to JAVIER HERNANDEZ SANCHEZ (Adjunto a Dirreccion) in the hotel. I met this gentlman on a number of occasions during our visit . His ignorance knows no bounds and a customer service course would be wasted on the guy - since we departed he has chosen to ignore my 3 emails (read receipts and delivery notifications confirme so he and /or the hotel received same) and 3 telephone calls. My last attempt was to send a request on The Barcelo website that someone there contact me. That email has been ignored also. ..... PLEASE BEWARE! This hotel although beautiful to look at is deafening to stay in. (Please note that I cannot comment on the other buildings away from the main annex) .... signed , an 'Ex-loyal Barcelo' very disappointed customer who has 'faded away'! D. Bryan. Mr Hern?ndez S?nchez 26th May 2008. Barcel? Jandia Mar, Playa del Jable s/n, Barranco de Vinamar 35635 Jand?a-P?jara, Ph: 00 353 1 XXXXXXX Fuerteventura. Mob: 00 353 XXXXXXX Dear Mr Hern?ndez S?nchez, You may recall that my wife, myself and my two parents visited your hotel from 10/05/08 to 17/05/08 inclusive. I wanted the best rooms in your hotel, to ensure that we would be rested and relaxed after our holiday. I booked two separate suites. Upon arrival, there was some confusion regarding my booking and we were placed in a master suite (i.e. two suites with an interconnecting door) in room 510. We left your hotel very dissatisfied, weary and disappointed! On the night of the 11/5/08 I reported to Eduardo at reception my concern at the noise level in our rooms from 1930 until past midnight. I initially and incorrectly thought that someone above us was moving furniture about. Eduardo informed me to contact reception throughout the night and security would be sent to any room causing a disturbance. There was no reason to contact reception as we returned to our room late that night and all was quiet. However, the following morning and later that evening the noise persisted and upon further investigation I discovered the source of the noise i.e. chairs being moved by guests downstairs in the lobby bar when their seats are pulled out so they may seat themselves at the tables. This movement of the chairs results in a screeching noise being generated, as the timber chair leg is pulled across the marble or wooden floor. The sound then echoes up within the hotel atrium and reverberates above room 510. This noise caused headache and weariness to my family and me. I went to reception and left a note for the hotel manager to contact me. You and I eventually spoke on Wed. 14/05/08. I invited you to our room to listen the noise as my wife remained in the bar below and moved the chairs whilst we closed all internal doors in 510 and listened to the noise generated. You agreed the noise was most disturbing and I pointed out this was the noise generated by one person – could you imagine what the noise sounded like if there were one hundred people below in the bar!. I proposed that you could rectify the problem in the future i.e. by placing soft rubber cups on all furniture downstairs. I also suggested that, for our disappointment and torment, you could invite us back to your hotel when the problem was solved and provide us with a stay there gratis. You said you would have to discuss this (with management) before reverting to me. You made no attempt to contact me! Effectively, we were unable to go and rest in our rooms between the hours of 1930 up midnight or beyond i.e. when the bar below closed. Once guests started to move into the foyer during breakfast time the noise started once more i.e. it was impossible to gain more than six hours sleep during the night. This was made known to you. I also informed you that my mother is on medication and needs rest. She was forced to sleep on her balcony or by the poolside as she could not get peace and quiet in room 510. She and the rest of us were unable to relax in our rooms due to the noise level. I understood it was not possible to change rooms as the hotel was ‘fully booked’. I went to reception to obtain your decision to my request on Friday 16/5/08, but you were not on duty that day. Upon our departure, early on the morning of 17/5/08, I left my business card with Alain and asked him to have you contact me – you did not do so!. I called your hotel from Ireland last week and spoke once more with Eduardo. I asked him to have you contact me. Again you have not done so! I am now writing this mail to you and suggest you have the decency to respond to me. As mentioned to you, we have stayed in Barcel? Fuerteventura, 5 times and Barcel? Santiago once. I thought what differentiated Barcel? hotels from your competitors was the high level of customer service (among other things) that you provide to your clients. Mr Hern?ndez S?nchez, you fall short in this regard! Kindly have the decency to contact me instead of wishing that I merely ‘fade away’ as another dissatisfied customer. Yours Sincerely D. Bryan.

Stayed at the barcelo last year in May. Found the hotel very big and nice as had a number of pools, the spa centre and sauna were great loved it. Location wise the restaurants and little town of jandia is 15 minutes away but some times we jumped in taxis as quite a hill to the hotel. The beach is amazing lovely sand dunes and is only a short walk down the hill. Food at the hotel is nice and has lots of selection would go back again!!
