Location

The area is well known for its rich history and number of world renowned historical monuments. One of the highlights is Karlstejn Castle that was built in the 15th century by the Czech King and Roman Emperor Karel IV. Many other medieval castles eg. Krivoklat, Zebrak and Tocnik are worth visiting. There is a famous stalactite cave, Koneprusy, that is breathtaking. Close by is a famous glass factory, Rueckel.

The Best Western Hotel Grand at Beroun is a high building in the citycentre of Beroun. It's a 10 minute walk from the railwaystation. The hotel claims to be a 4 star hotel which is somewhat overrated, my bet would be 3? star. The rooms are large and have charming colours, you can choose in yellow, red, green or blue. Staff at reception is friendly and speaks english. Rooms have minibars but in my room the fridge wasn't working so there were no cold drinks. No problem, there is a Billa supermarket nearby which is open until 20.00 monday-saturday. Breakfast buffet was not very extensive and instead of juices there is just lemonade. Note that the hotel is popular with large groups so the breakfastroom can get busy. Servicing of my room was not always good, I think that roommaids must do many rooms in lesser time. Amazing are the tv-channels in the rooms: 18 channels from many countries, even Netherlands. If you can get a good rate then you should opt for this hotel.
