Location

Roman Boutique Hotel Map
It was in Paphos where, according to the legend, the Greek goddess of love and beauty was born.

``And laughter loving Aphrodite went to Paphos in Cyprus where she has her sacred precinct and fragrant altar``(Odyssey VIII 362).

The temple of Aphrodite was the national, religious and cultural centre of the island under the Ptolemies and Romans. After the decline of the Roman Empire, Paphos too lost some of its splendour and political influence, but retains its unique charm, picturesque port used by fishing boats and yachts as well as centuries old little Byzantine churches. See the recently discovered antique floor mosaics. In town you will find a classic Greek square and streets lined with busy shops leading to the market where farmers offer their freshest goods.

History, legend and a colourful every day life meet here in Paphos and make it the most attractive town in Cyprus. Paphos has been declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Just a few minutes away from the Roman you will find local restaurants and tavernas. The Lighthouse Beach (Blue Flag) is 400 metres away. The bus stop is just opposite.

  • The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful, the rooms were clean. I found it well located, about a 10 min walk from the harbour, 2 mins to the beach and the market a short taxi ride away. Worth bearing in mind that residents of the Roman 1 can also use the rooftop pool and sunbathing in the Roman 2 just across the road. This was nicer than the Roman 1 pool which could be quite shady, especially in October. I did find that the pool temperature was quite refreshing ie cold but this would have been very pleasant in peak season. All in all a great place to stay, not too far from the action but far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet.. Read review

  • We arrived at The Roman on 3rd September 2005 and were immediately impressed by the friendly welcome we received at Reception. Throughout our stay this friendly attention continued from all of the staff; nothing was ever too much trouble to find out for us, or provide; no matter how unusual the request. However, the decor adds to the warmth and friendly atmosphere. The decor was continued to the bedrooms and ours was comfortable with air conditioning and an enormous bed, ideal for the hot climate. We had only booked our stay for bed and breakfast but after one particularly busy day we decided to try the hotel's evening buffet by the pool instead of visiting one of the many local restaurants. The meal was reasonably priced and the food was delicious: a good choice of salad dishes for starters followed by a good selection of main meal dishes. If you want to stay in a friendly hotel, with fun surroundings, good food and most important helpful, efficient staff, then chose the Roman.. Read review

  • We have just returned from Phaphos, staying bed and breakfast in the Roman. But makes a refreshing change from the clean and spart apartments we have stopped in before. Also thought the 1 full mirrored wall in the room a bit much(not used to seeing my self like that first thing in a morning! The Room which we stopped in was a ground floor facing the pool, good for the children as we did not have to go far as we could see them in the pool from our terace.. Read review

  • The pool area is beautiful with pots of exotic plants all round the pool and exotic flowers growing up pergolas. At 6pm they clear away the sunbeds and turn it into a romantic courtyard restaurant with candlelit tables and all you can eat buffets, barbeques and carverys. The rooms are done up in the same style as the rest of the hotel with huge mirrors covering the walls, even the bed, chairs and dressing table are in the Roman theme. We had a balcony overlooking the pool with lovely flowers all around it. Its about a ten minute walk down to Pafos harbour with its lovely restaurants, boats and the amazing Mosaics.. Read review
