We had previsouly been to this hotel before, so we knew what to expect. We went at the end of May, weather was fab 30 degrees. Transfer time from the airport was 40 mins.
Hotel - general. Wonderful grounds, beautiful pools, hotel leads onto the beach where the hotel provide sun loungers etc ... Everywhere was kept very clean. Hotel is situated on a main road, the road can be busy at night but it just means you have to be careful when crossing. Road is quiet in the day. The road is actually busier in downtown Limassol. We never found it a problem.
Hotel - rooms. Lovely clean rooms, we had an inward view but there was no problem with noise from the main road as there are 2 sets of patio doors onto the balcony, air conditioning with 3 settings, safe, plenty of wardrobe space. Bathroom with sink, toilet and bath/shower. Towels replaced every day. Hairdryer in the bathroom. Flat screen TV with channels with BBC1, BBC2, ITV, channel 4 & 5, sky news.
Hotel - food. We only ate at the hotel in the eve once, as we were only booked in on B&B basis. There are 3 restuarants. Sushi, Italian and a themed restaurant with different themes every night we ate on the 'international night'. Personally didnt think that there was that much food but the food was very nice. The breakfast was lovey, buffet style with every breakfast item you can think of ! Tea, coffee and juices are served.
Limassol. I felt that he town had 3 parts to it. The harbour which is the old part of the town, downtown which is noisy and busy with locals, and the part where the hotel is which is quieter but with lots going on still. The better restuarants in the town are situated within walking distane from the hotel, we liked :
TERRA MARE - (you need to get a cab to this one, takes about 6 mins, restauarant is turn right out of the hotel). This was our favourite place to eat. One price is quoted against each main meal and this price is for 4 courses - soup starter (choice of 2), salad and seafood bar- you can have whatever you want from their extensive salad and seafood bar, main meal (lots of choice) and choice of desert. You dont have to book, but you get a better table if you book.
MAMAS - as above but no soup course and salad/seafood bar not as big as above but still has a lot of choices, and still very good value. We never booked and always got a good table.
FRANX - opposite hotel, good for cheap snacky lunch during the day
Italian resuarant (cant remember the name !), within 5 mins walking distance from the hotel, turn left out of the hotel and restaurant is on the left next to an ice cream shop. We needed to book for this one.
Tips:
The rooms all have plug sockets with the same type as the UK and same voltage, so no need for adaptors.
You dont need to take beach towels as the hotel provide free of charge fresh beach towels every day.
The bus is cheaper to get around and will cost approx. 1.50 euro regardless of where you are going, buses run on the hour and then every 20 mins from there, they stop around 10.20pm.
There are 2 supermarkets accross from the hotel, get your soft drinks, crisps etc .. from here for around the pool as much cheaper than the hotel. You can also buy nappies, baby supplies and huggies little swimmers.
Go to Franx bar opposite the hotel for snacks etc... they have a childrens menu and do lovey milkshakes (better and cheaper than the hotel !), the bar also has free wi-fi and for 1 euro for 15 mins they have a PC with internet connection you can use.
