It is conveniently situated close to Huaihai Road. Established in 1929, the 13 floor Cathay Building's architecture is of British Gothic style. It is a combination of the outstanding architecture style of the 1880s and the decoration style of the 1920s. Its 434 rooms and suites are spread over three buildings that overlook 10,000 square meters of beautiful garden.

I have stayed at the "Old Jin Jiang " several times since this first visit. It was recommended to me by a friend living in China and have since taken several colleagues there whenever we visit shanghai. Its old world charm never fails to impress and it is one of my favorite places to stay when visiting China, I have always enjoyed the food and the decor . I will be taking someone there again next week, it will be his first visit to China and I feel sure he will be impressed. If you want clinically clean and modern this is not the place for you. It is clean but has character and the staff are always courteous and extremely helpful. I do not speak Chinese but have never had a problem there.
