This is the first hotel that I've ever checked out of early, but given that the main thing I'd expect from a hotel is a decent night's sleep, and that that's something I didn't achieve once in a six day stay, I had little choice. The first night we were there, reception called us at 1.00am to query a breakfast order, and then sent someone up to the room twenty minutes later to go over it again. Not that we were asleep anyhow - the bed was the most uncomfortable I've ever encountered. And so it went on - the walls were paper thin and we could hear every conversation and door slam from the neighbouring rooms. Still, we'd just started to think we might put up with up, until the last night, when the phone rang at gone ten o'clock at night to demand that we went to reception there and then to pay an extra thirty pounds owing on the account. We promptly checked out the next morning, and found a far more comfortable, better run and cheaper hotel down the road. It's lucky that we hadn't paid for the full eighteen nights when we first checked in - as they attempted to make us do. Given that we ended up leaving early, it now seems clear why they try.
