A hostess met us inside the door and escorted us to the reception desk where we were speedily checked in while the on-duty manager chatted with us. The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The bathroom was oversized and featured every amenity conceivable. We made use of the fitness facilities which were first class by any standard. Again, service was wonderful as an attendant brought us cold bottled water while exercising and our own earphones for the individual television monitors at each trwadmill. The pool was perfect for laps and heated perfectly.. Read review
Posted: Apr 19, 2006 - member - From the moment you walk into the lobby the tone of the hotel is set - tranquil, attractive, modern, with a staff that is ready and at your service! The front desk staff and doormen could not have been anymore pleasant and helpful. And by the second night many of the staff were doing it with my last name. I am 6'4" and have had much trouble with the room size of many hotels in Asia, and was pleasantly surprised to see the high ceilings and large bright airy rooms. The linens, towels and furniture are all of the highest quality, and the bathrooms are luxurious. Separate shower, marble tub, and toilet rooms. And the glass wall between the bathroom & bedroom has electronic blinds that you can open or close to let in natural light. The excercise gym area are all georgeous! With an affinity lap pool with a glass roof to let in natural light, and a small outside putting area for golfers.. Read review

First of all the price: I had a huge room with a beautiful bathroom and breakfast for about USD100 a day. Second, the service: In general China is a helpful and cheerful place, and the staff at the Beijing Intercontinental were also helpful and cheerful. There is no shortage of hotel staff, and you never wait for anything.. Read review

The hotel itself is a five-minute walk from Fuchengmen subway station (for those who want a convenient way to get to central Beijing). My only quibble -- a small one -- is that the Financial Street location seems to be unknown to a lot of Bejing taxi drivers (i. Otherwise -- as I said above -- this is virtually a perfect hotel -- designed for "businessmen convenience" -- and therefore lacking charm -- or whatever -- but it is an oasis in that regard from the traffic and pollution of Beijing..
