We were travelling as a party of 4 around Spain and Portugal for 2 weeks and stayed here 2 days. We had stayed in some of our destinations before but were showing frinds some of the "Real Spain". Having stayed at the Rector before we opted for this again in Salamanca and it certainly did not disappoint. The whole feel as you enter is one of understated elegance and quality. From the thick towels (changed twice on one of the days) to the Bvlgary tolietries , wooden floors in the reception with exquisite furnishings it provided a cool oasis to a hectic 2 days sightseeing in the beautiful (if very hot) city of Salamanca. A great location , only 5 mins walk from the Cathedral and stunning Plaza Mayor with free parking outside the hotel door.

My husband and I stayed at the Rector for two night in early April, and had a marvelous experience. We were greeted warmly by the desk staff; directed to the locked parking garage, which connects directly with the lobby; and, most unusually, were shown two rooms and given our choice! We opted for the larger room on the lobby level which was very large, had two easy chairs and a large and spotless bathroom. Plus it was entirely quiet. The lobby area is quite large and has different seating areas provided with many art books and local guides. The breakfast choices were very good and were accompanied with the offer to cook us eggs to order however we wanted them! There is no restaurant in the hotel, but their recommendations were terrific. Plus the hotel is within easy walking distance of the cathedral and other city attractions. Our experience at the Rector was the best of our two-week stay in Spain. The price of 140 euros was on the high side for us, but the Rector was worth every penny for the pleasant surroundings and personal service.
