Hotel St. Josef - Zurich, Switzerland     

I hate to disagree with almost everyone, but we were not pleased with our stay here, and it was mostly due to the smell of the rooms (we had 2 adjoining rooms with room for 4 people). I do realize that there are not as many non-smoking rooms in Europe, but our rooms smelled like a CAMPFIRE. The stale smoke and beer smelled horrible...I don't think I could have slept in the room that our kids stayed in. Location was very convenient indeed, and the breakfast was fine too. But for the price paid, even in Zurich, I expected better.

We recently spent several nights at the Hotel St Josef. We stayed in room 14, plainly furnished in the modern style, quite large and has cross ventilation. The weather was not so hot that we needed anything more than the fan provided to cool the room on the warmest day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast, (meats cheeses, boiled eggs, breads, pastries, yoghurt, fruit condiments, etc) was quite good, and certainly filling. The hotel is about a 10-min walk from the train station, the waterfront and the Old Town. It is on a hill above the street, but there is a ramp, so you don’t have to climb steps with your luggage. We had one dinner at the restaurant. Very good. My wife talked about the zucchini-wrapped Sander for almost a week. There is also an outdoor terrace for dining
