"Fabulous Hotel!"Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3We stayed at the Rigihof for 1 night during August 2005. This hotel is wonderful. It is right by a tram stop in a quiet area of Zurich, about a 2-3min tram ride into the centre of things. The receptionists were helpful, nice and even gave us a welcome drink. We walked in looking a mess after an early morning and with some huge rucksacks, and the staff treated us exactly like the polished couple next to us.
The room was light, spacious and airy. We even had a balcony overlooking some pretty apartments. This hotel really did think of everything. In the wardrobe, there was an umbrella for use free of charge which you could also purchase at the end of your stay if you wished. There were slippers, a rubber duck in the bathroom, huge jars of soap, a reasonably priced mini bar, sweeties, everything you wanted really. The hotel info booklet was very very comprehensive, and there was lots of info on Zurich.
As in most hotels, the beds were 2 twins pushed together which doesnt make for the most romantic evening, but they were still comfy.
We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Dinner was very nice, a mix of Italian and swiss specialities, and the staff were superb. It was pricey, but similar to the rest of Switzerland. We were even brought a small swiss speciality compliments of the chef.
Breakfast was a continental style buffet, which again was nice.
All in all, we were very happy with this hotel, especially as we had gotten a very cheap rate having shopped around on the internet. This hotel really is style and class without any pretentiousness.
