1The Astor was booked for me by my company because they waited until the last minute, and all the good hotels with reasonable rates were gone.
Take a number 7 tram from the station, because the hill to the hotel is very steep you will regret it if you walk. When you arrive and check in you get the key to your room, this is a card like device you put into the lock, but it takes a lot of fiddling to open the door.
The lift would probably be illegal in any EEC country, if you have small children exercise extreme caution. 2 sides have no protective door, so any loose items could get caught against the walls wizzing by.
The room was large, but the bathroom from another era, possibly the 60s, it truely was that bad.
No air conditioning, no fan either, open the windows and hear the trams going pass, late at night the passing drunks add to the noise. Too hot to close the window, too noisey to open it.
1 English language TV station (CNN)
All this for about £90 (180USD) per night.
Breakfast food was OK, coffee was barely drinkable.
Free internet PC, if it is switched off just switch it on, there is only 1 program you can launch and this gives you internet access.
If I had to go on business again and this was the only hotel available in the city, I would travel from a nearby town rather than end up here.
