Reading some of the reviews on here I'm really not sure I stayed at the same hotel as some of them!
We stayed here for two nights from June 18th - 19th on a quick trip in and out of Switzerland for a Euro 2008 match. The game was in Basle in fact but accommodation was impossible to get there so we had to settle for Zurich. Booked a year in advance through a website (not sure which one, I didn't deal with it) we got two twin rooms for around half the advertised rate including breakfast. There were four lads on the trip.
The hotel is well out of Zurich centre, though we did walk in to the city the first night just to see how far it was and it's really not that far. Took us under an hour. No real reason you should have to walk though, there's a train station (Hardbrucke) about 500 yards from the hotel and it's a two minute train journey to the city centre. Didn't really see anything wrong with the immediate surrounding area either. It's a bit industrial rather than residential but it seemed fine to me with Zurich Business School directly opposite. I certainly never felt unsafe at all which is what I think some of the other reviews are hinting at.
I thought the rooms were a very good standard. Clean, well furnished, wide flat screen tv with multiple channels in just about every language you might think of including BBC1, BBC2, ITV and Sky News. There's internet available in your room either through the tv or through wifi but we had no use for that so can't comment on it. There was an aircon unit in the room too that certainly cooled it down pretty quickly though as far as I could see it only had ON/OFF settings. No way to adjust the desired temperature. Two single beds pretty much shoved together but made up separately. Bathroom was not massive certainly but more than big enough so far as I could see. Shower was plenty powerful enough and the shower cubicle was large enough. No bath in the room we had if baths are more your thing though. There's a minibar in the room too but we didn't open it (it has a seal on it) so I don't know how well stocked it is. The sockets in the room didn't suit the general European adapters for plugs though which might be an issue? The one in the bathroom worked if you unplugged the hairdrier though so that was used for charging phones. All the others had strnge shaped slots you needed some different adapter to fit. Presumably that's a Swiss thing? I wouldn't know.
A few nice touches. When we arrived there were complimentary bottles of Evian water and a toblerone in the room waiting for us. Also, a small clear bag per person in the bathroom containing shampoo, shower gel, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, disposable razor, etc which is very handy if you travelled only on handluggage where these days you basically can't bring toiletries. Complimentary hotel slippers too. No complaints at all about the room.
No complaints about the staff either, not that we had much contact with them. Check in was quick and painless, check out even quicker. We had a couple of beers in the hotel bar just after arriving but spent really no more waking time in the hotel than that. They must lock the door at night because on return from Basle on night 2 at 1am we had to ring the bell to get in.
Breakfast is served on the 6th floor. Certainly wasn't wonderful. Not bad, but average. Wouldn't put it at 4 star. Buffet self service. Bread, fruit, some cereals, bread, cheeses, hams and some hot food. Fruit juices, tea and coffee too. No real complaint about the choices but the hot food didn't stay hot for long in the hotplate machine and they weren't especially quick to replace things that were finished. Scrambled egg tray sat empty for the entire breakfast one morning only for them to bring a new one out just as we were leaving. Second morning I was lucky enough to arrive just as new scrambled egg was being put out and it was nicely hot as it should be but anything else we had was lukewarm at best.
Would I stay here again? Well, nothing put me off doing so particularly. The breakfast wasn't all that great but I didn't go to Zurich to eat breakfasts. I wouldn't have thought it was an ideal hotel location if you are staying in Zurich for tourism. Suited us fine for our purposes, being on the airport side of Zurich too and I would stay there again if for any reason I was doing the same again.

Stayed 1 night found the rooms not bad and quite comfortable and clean and breakfast was good but a bit cold and close to tram station.
care that you dont get onto a tram without ticket otherwise 80 franc charge must have some coins for the ticket but tram service is very good
The bad things are that its inefficient with staff quite indiffrent no smiles.
They overbook even if you have a reservation which means when checking in have to wait 40 min for them to find you a alternative room, also staff in the restraunt upstairs not helpfull either.
