The only positive aspect of this hotel is the location, close to Sunnega. I booked this hotel as the one we usually stay at, was occupied. I thought their concept BIO would be a nice change due to certain restrictions in my diet. Well, our first breakfast looked promising, but after that, the buffet was usually half empty with something always missing. The only fruit available were juice and oranges and apples that looked like they'd been there for a month. If they're going to brag about being BIO, they'd better have enough bread, rolls and toast to put the meagre quantity of BIO jams and spreads that we usually found at the bottom of the jars.
The rooms are tiny with bathtubs in the middle of the room, or an open shower in some corner, with just a 3-panelled wooden separation, and no room for personal toiletries. The bedding leaves something to be desired. I asked if they have feather pillows or duvets, as the synthetic aspect of the bedding was rather unpleasant. Their reply was simply no!
We had to cut our trip short, due to my ski accident. If it had been another hotel, that would have been really unfortunate. But maybe it was a blessing in disguise!
Last, but not least, we were hoping that the hotel would be able to rent out our rooms due to an early departure because of my accident, but we had gone on numerous occasions to the Zermatt Tourist Office and they weren't aware of the vacancy. Normally, vacancies are posted just outside of the office, and even 2 days after informing the hotel of our departure, nothing had been posted. We were charged for 1 night after our departure, and I'm still waiting for a receipt for insurance purposes, 3 months after sending numerous e-mails and phone calls.
Hospitality and customer satisfaction is definitely not the priority of this establishment...a shame for Zermatt, such a lovely resort!

Pros:
The Hotel is very stylish. We liked the look of it very much. Our room was small but we managed. We had a toddler and 2 dogs with us. Our room had a tub which was right in the main room but I guess they did the best they could with the space they had available. Overall, very nice and clean.
One of the reception ladies (the real reason for the 4 stars) was extremely nice and helpful and really helped us when we left very important documents in the room after we checked out. She was just great! The other lady and gentleman practically ignored us while we were there. We had the same issue in the dining room, some were nice and some seemed like they couldn't be bothered with us.
The dining room and grounds are very nice and well kept.
Breakfast was very good (standard fair) consisting of coffee, tea, juice, muesli, yogurt, breads, cheese, ham and hard boiled eggs. They had plenty and were attentive to provide coffee or tea.
We didn't hear any noise from other guests while in the room.
The pool is open 24 hours as well as they had a hot tub and sauna. The pool is really for playing around and not for exercise.
Cons:
We stayed 3 nights and while we found the bed to be comfortable our room was on the 1st floor so we had reception and the laundry room and we think part of the kitchen under us. We had to contend with street noise since the window had to be open as it was too warm. Granted we go to sleep a little early because we have a toddler but the downstairs noise was annoying with banging and pushing things around until at least 11pm. It also would have been nice to have real light blocking shades rather than dark paper shades that let a lot of light in through the sides, but we wake up early anyway.
Dinner starts at 7 pm which is a little late when you have a toddler BUT most places in Zermatt start serving at 7 and only a few at 6. They didn't attempt to speed things up for us either and we waited an hour for our food. We also couldn't get plain water. Not allowed, only mineral water which we hate or 18 CHF a bottle water which I wasn't about to pay for. I felt like going up to our room and getting a glass of water and bringing it back down! Our son fell asleep at the table without eating. There was also no child menu. We ate elsewhere for dinner the rest of the time. There was no room service which we would have utilized having a small child. Apparently, breakfast could be brought to your room for a charge but we didn't need that.
The small child's pool area was not working and looked pretty gross to me (which could be the reason it wasn't working). Our toddler loves the water so that was a big reason we chose this place. He did thoroughly enjoy the big kids pool though.
For breakfast, they had a sign that eggs could be made if you ask so when my husband asked, they said the kitchen staff doesn't arrive until 9 or so. It was 7:30. Why put out a sign when it can't be done?
Overall, the look and feel of the place is very nice. It was hit or miss on the friendliness of the staff and I think it matter's where your room actually is. We booked through the hotel which was easy and we never complained about the noise or asked to move rooms because it was a short stay and with 2 dogs and a toddler, it was too much work.
I think this would be a nice place for honeymooners, couples, family with older children. I'm not sold on it being a place for families with Infants/toddlers just due to the inconvenience of not having a child menu, dinner being on the late side and not being overly child friendly.
