My wife and I booked directly with Roswitha & Makus at the Hotel Alpenhof and the only regret we have is having to come away.
Absolutely nothing was beyond the two hosts. They would both go out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
The day would get off to a great start with a plentyfull breakfast consisting of Eggs, Meats, Cheeses Jams , Breads and as much Tea, Coffe and fresh Orange juice as we wanted.
Markus would give us a wether report every morning and advise us to ski in Saas Almagell, Saas Grund, Saas Fee or even Zermatt and 9 times out of 10 he was always right.
After a fantastic breakfast we collected our skis from the ski room and a two minute walk saw us at the main square ready to catch the ski bus to one of three ski areas.
After a great day skiing my wife and I returned to the Hotel and always had a drink or three with the hosts before going to our room to shower and change. The rooms were very spacious with ample storage space, TV, Radio and free Internet connection if you wished to use it. The en suite shower room was more than ample for our two week stay. The usual enviromentaly friendly request was there to only put the towels for washing when absolutely necessary which is understandable but the hotel cleanliness was second to none. The rooms including shower room was cleaned whilst we ate breakfast. The bed was very comfy and the view from our balcony over looked the small village of Saas Almagell and the mountains.
The fitness centre consisted of Steam room, Sauna, Showers, Splash pool, relaxation area and exercise machines.
Markus and Roswitha were always ready to sit down and have a drink or chat with us in the small bar area but not many of the guests wanted to socialise so there wasn't much of an Apres Ski attmospere. This was nothing to do with the hosts but the guests staying in the hotel.
As the Hotel doesn't provide a half board option we had to eat out
every night. This wouldn't please all types of guest but it suited us down to the ground. Markus or Roswitha would even phone different restaurants to book us a table to make sure we had a comfortable evening. There are about 10 different places to eat ranging from traditional Swiss to a fantastic pizza place
To round it all off we would revisit the Hotel Alpenhof anytime.
It is a small quiet traditional village with plenty of places to eat out all of wich made us feel welcome everynight.
An average meal consisting of two starters, two main courses, Only one Apple Strudle with cream, two coffes and bottle of white wine would cost between 80 and 100 CHF and believe me you have eaten well.

Excellent location, fantastic service, very comfortable rooms - what an excellent stay we had during xmas break 2007. The owners would go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Tasch is about an hour away by car where you can then catch a train that takes you into Zermatt. Saas Fee is just a 10 minute drive away where you can go up to the worlds highest revolving restaurant. Would definitley come back and happily stay at Hotel Alpenhof
