We have recently returned from out honeymoon at hotel Stella, Interlaken. We stayed for 10 nights. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful. The hotel is family run. Although the rooms were basic they were comfortable and adequate. There was a lot of choice for breakfast. They had taken into account its english customers who like bacon and egg in the morning. There was no limit on how much you could eat at breakfast which satisfied most people. The evening meal was really good and they took into account my serious allergy when cooking. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the train station and the centre. We had a lovely time and hope this feedback is helpful to people considering Hotel Stella.

I am an experienced traveller, having travelled widely throughout The Far East, Africa, North America, Australia, and Europe and have experienced a wide range of different types of accomodation from camping, 2 star to five star hotels. We booked the Stella on the 4 star recommendation, however I found the hotel to be of 3 star quality. The room accommodation was satisfactory, but needed painting in parts (i,e, the ceiling)and the view from the balcony was of weeds in the concrete in front, it needed updating. In a brochure the hotel appeared to be of a chalet design, this was only a small part of the hotel and much of it was concrete and of a 70's design. The corridors were dark and the lifts were very old-fashioned and small. I also visited the inside pool, which was very cold and appeared to not have been updated in a number of years. Breakfast was limited, there was bread, cold meats and jam available and two types of cereal- sugar puffs and cornflakes. Yoghurt was also available and eggs to cook your own breakfast, however, there was nothing to put in an omelette if you were a vegetarian. The one pan to cook your breakfast was very slow- a wider variety of food would be expected at a 4 star hotel. There was a cooked breakfast provided on one day- Sunday. The hotel took pride in it's evening meals, these were quite expensive but like the rest of Switzerland.. Service by staff was pleasant in the restaurant and umbrellas were provided. There were two plastic large cows at the front of the hotel and cars could be heard from the road.
