"Excellent choice if you get a good rate"Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3We had a 2-night stay in September, 2005. Now called "Nash Rex" hotel, although name appears differently in many places. 4-star, but by European standards, so don't except Four Seasons quality. By European standards, very high quality. Rooms considerably more spacious than typical. Recently remodeled, so eveything is pretty crisp and clean and they are working to keep it that way. Decor tends toward frilly, but that is a matter of taste. Extremely helpful and courtesous desk staff. Not really in a "residential" neighborhood as advertised (it's on a busy business street), but in a quieter area than, say, main downtown. About 15 - 20 minutes walking distance from main train station; a little more to Lake and old town. Nearby bus can get you to train station without walking; bus connections from there are complicated for out-of-towners. Breakfast is way overpriced at 25 CHF pp; we went elsewhere. Room rates vary wildly, so check around. Room available for 150 CHF at one site (a good deal) may be 300 CHF at another site and on hotel's own site. At the 300 CHF level, look at 5-star hotels. If we got a good rate, we would glady stay here again. A thoroughly positive experience.
