There are two Kim Hotels in Dresden, and we stayed at the Four Star at Gompitzer Hohe 2. It's a nice, modern hotel - clean and efficient, with a friendly staff and reasonably priced. There are some problems, however. It feels as if it's in the middle of a gigantic building site - they're building a motorway thereabouts. And while the motorway will eventually be built, it will stll be a LONG way from Dresden town centre - if, like us, you don't have a car. We had to take the bus from outside the hotel (three per hour), and then change to a tram for the half-hour journey into town. BUT it's almost impossible to get into a hotel in Dresden - definitely one of Europe's top tourist destinations since the rebuilt Frauenkirche opened two years ago - and we wouldn't have got to Dresden at all if we hadn't got into the Kim,. We're so glad we made it, so no complaints (the hotel was quite upfront about its location). The city is INCREDIBLY beautiful, and there are many other things to do beside the wonderful art galleries, music at the Semper Opera etc. We had an idyllic boat trip down the Elbe to Meissen, for instance.
